Please help
I'm normally fairly good with my money. I had taken out a loan 2 years ago to attend my sister's wedding (in Florida - rather unexpected expense, hence the loan, and I also took the opportunity of paying off my credit cards with the money) which is paid off in 7 months (at £200 per month). Since then, I kept my credit cards mostly clear, paying them off in full each month.
My partner and I are to be married next month, in Iceland. Unfortunately, I didn't pay quite as much attention as I should have when arranging the wedding. What with buying the rings, paying for the trip to Iceland and the honeymoon (Marrakesh and Italy), paying for the hotels and the like, I've just about run out of credit, and to make matters worse I didn't realise this until I'd gone past my overdraft limit on two of my accounts.
Now, I've restored all of the accounts to in-credit, but I have very little money to spare. I've worked out my monthly outgoings and compared with my income and in the long term I'll be fine - but getting past the wedding will be awkward as we still need to book a couple of nights in hotels and to have spending money for the trip.
I figured the ideal thing would be a loan - I can easily afford to pay it off over the next few years. I applied at HSBC and alliance and leicester (where I bank) and was declined. I then had the bright idea of checking this site. It seems that because I'm not registered on the electoral roll at my new address (we moved in December, and I had assumed that because I was signed up to pay council tax, I would be on the electoral roll - bad move) and because of the brief period over my overdraft limit I'm not considered a good risk.
I've now sent off to register myself on the electoral roll, but that doesn't help just yet. Does anyone know how long it takes to get the electoral roll updated?
I'm going to apply for my credit reports from Experian, Equifax and the like this evening. I still need money in the short term. Is there anywhere that you could recommend that would loan me money even with the recent applications counting against me?
Thanks for any help :-)

The electoral register normally gets updated on 1st december each yr, yes this will have affected your ability to obtain credit, however I think another contributing factor will be it seems you have racked up your available credit quite quickly in a short space of time so you now appear maxxed out, this in itself will cause lenders to decline you and I imagine this will still be the case even if you appear on the electoral roll.
You may find it difficult to obtain further mainstream credit at this moment and may have to go back to old adage of 'saving up', I know this doesn't help in the meantime so you may just have to cut back on your extravagant wedding, starting married life with so much debt taken on just to fund a lavish wedding and honeymoon is not such a good idea surely?Aug GC £63.23/£200, Total Savings £00 -
To check your credit file for free, please follow Martin's advice:

Also, don't waste your money getting a credit score with your credit report.
I hope the wedding goes well. Good luck...0 -
Ask for money instead of wedding presents, explaining it will pay for your honeymoon (as least your spends anyway). Sounds cheeky, but a lot do it these days as most couples cohabit prior to marrying, so have no need for 6 toasters and 4 kettles.0
