Cheap Memory Foam Wanted!

Can anyone recommend a good site to get cheap memory foam from? Doesn't need to be the full mattress just the top bit (I really don't know what i'm talking about do I!!)

Hopefully one of you know :)

TIA

Dun elm sell cheap memory foams, but really IMO if you want comfort don't cut corners and get a good quality trusted brand like Tempur.

You don't need to spend anywhere as much as Tempur charge. There are many other manufacturers who make memory foam better and cheaper (remember Tempur came out bottom in the Which Magazine report).

Just make sure that the density is between 60 and 70kg per m3, and the depth is 2".

By the way, don't use a topper to try and revive an old worn out mattress.

Just had a look online at Which's survey on mattresses - Tempur in fact came out top of all mattresses? This was a survey of actual owners satisfaction at their own mattresses....

In the memory foam mattress report they came out bottom, so I don't know which one they came out top.

If you are looking at buying Tempur then there is a couple of things to bear in mind. They use a 3" deep layer of memory foam, and the density is 85kg per m3. This density will give very good support, but has a very slow recovery rate, so combined with the deep memory foam it can make it very difficult to change position. Also the fact that you will sink down most of the 3", and also the reflex foam underneath can make them very warm.

We bought a mattress about 18 months ago, sprung and expensive but we both found it uncomfortable after a few months, but it was decent, so we just bought a 3in topper. My Husband got it off Ebay, i think we paid between £40 and £50 for a double size, we have had it for about 3 months and its very comfy, but think it will be warm in Summer. However, we have heard you can buy a cover to combat this. When we researched memory foam toppers people said go for 2 and a half to 3in depth at least.

More that 2" deep doesn't actually give any better support, but it will make you hotter the deeper it is.

I'd love to know who it is telling people to get memory foam 3" deep??
