Sony E-reader HELP: I'VE DONE SOMETHING STOOOOPID

Please can anyone offer any advice at all, this morning i have managed ro drop my Sony Ereader in the bath (it was a gift from my oh - which we couldnt really afford and im really devastated - done a bit of crying this morning) so i thought i would see if anyone knew if theres anything that can be done.

at first - it turned off - then managed to get it on and the charge light lit up - went into a book - then if froze - charge light still on - its now (an hour later) still frozen - but the charge light is off - but the reader is still on but nothing works

am i hoping too much when i say i hope it dries out an miraculously works?

if i am - will i be able to get it fixed

theres no way i can buy another as i am broke and expecting a baby

any help would be appreciated (although maybe not advice on - not taking it into the bathroom - ive got the message on that one ) xx

It sounds grim, but try resetting it by poking a paperclip, or similar, into the reset hole on the back.

You have done the worst possible thing by trying to switch it on before it has dried out!

You should have put it somewhere warm e.g. an airing cupboard to slowly dry out for a week before attempting to switch it on.

Do those things have a removable battery? get it removed ASAP and definitely don't try any resets or power on's until its had an extended period to dry out.

These things usually survive well if you get the battery out and don't try to do anything with it till its had a good few days drying.

In your case from the above is souinds like it would have been fine (initially fired up) but by turning it on your best bet now is probably looking up the accidental damage section of your house contents insurance

I've heard that putting it in dry rice, and leaving there to be absorbed works.
They also got a hand dryer and used that to try and dry it out.
Good luck, and let us know how you get on.
