I'm not sure if this will help but you say that you missed 4 payments because you were not on top of things due to illness. Is there no way your GP could vouch for this? I'm just wondering if you wrote a very firm letter to the bank explaining that that's why you missed the payments, enclosing a letter/note from your GP to say that you were genuinely ill with a debilitating virus, whether they might not cut you some slack. Maybe not, since banks are a**holes, but it might be worth a try.
  • Thank you all and sorry for taking so long to reply. After much deliberation I have taken the loan and although it is not an ideal situation I feel that a burden has been lifted and I am working hard to repay the whole sum as early as possible.
Thanks again for your kind help.

Glad you're feeling better and in charge now. You should feel proud of yourself, you did the research and chose the best option for you. You resisted the PPI and larger loan / longer repayment / more interest trap. You Know what you have to do and are doing it!

    Well done.

Good luck and can I just say well done for being so focused. We are in the s**t because of DH's poor health(poor being the opertive word LOL) thing is you can't plan it, can't just make it go away all that any of us can do is to react to circumstances. That is what you have done.PLEASE don't be so hard on yourself. You have done what is right for you. Congratulations and love.
