    Hi everyone :)
I just wanted to apologise for my remark last night about unsettling things - i think it was more a reflection of how i've been feeling rather than what anyone has done/ said etc. I didn't mean it to sound so heavy and it was probably not the most clearly thought-out comment. I hope i didn't offend anyone and i'm sorry to those who asked whether it was due to them - of course it isn't. I was really trying to get across the fact that even if i don't agree with things that are said or if i'm sceptical about anything, i can choose to ignore it and it won't make me feel like leaving the thread as i find this a really positive place to be. I can truly say that i have learnt something from everyone of you. This is the place i come when i feel happy or sad or lonely or excited to share news etc - i think you're a great group of people (trolls excluded) and feel that we are building some really solid friendships, even though they're online ones. Anyway, please accept my apologies - the last thing i wanted to do was to add to any uneasiness on the thread, that certainly wasn't my intention and i hope we continue dribbling together for a long time x
    Just £10,852.28p to go...

    Trust that little voice in your head that says "Wouldn't it be interesting if...";
    And then do it.

I work with kids so have a fair few laugh out loud moments.

One was little lad J had been telling me all about how he had a camper van (or a tent - a little hard to get the details when they are 3!) and he was going camping at half term. Little C comes up with his face tripping him and says sadly "I'm not going camping". "Oh never mind, C" sez I, "maybe you can go camping another time". "No" (shakes head) "I'm only going to Mauritius."

Well when you are 3, camping is probably way more exciting.

Then there was when little girl J told me that she had taken flowers to her nanny. "That's nice, J". "Yes, nanny was in a box, and we put them on the box." "Er......anyone else got anything to tell me?"

Misheard lyrics : DH was convinced Whitney Houston was singing "Climb every Mormon" (I'm every woman) and I wondered why someone was singing "Should I give up, or should I keep on chasing penguins" (probably makes as much sense, come to think of it).

Some good-uns there :D what was the penguin song?

Oooh do you have the recipe to hand? My last batch of macaroons (well my first and only) ended up like erm gloop!!

if its gloopy you need to add more icing sugar first time i made it thought 1 tattie thats not enough i'll use 3 looked like soup and ended up using 5 packets of icing sugar but had 300-400 pieces of macaroon so just using 1 tattie it really is enough.
1 small potato - boiled until very soft (no salt in water) and dried off
mash really well/put through a sieve
    packet of icing sugar
and mix together until really really stiff, smooth out in tray until about an inch thick(you may need to use a rolling pin)
leave overnight,(not in the fridge) cut into small squares or bars cover in melted chocolate and toss in roasted coconut,
    if it gets that far!

here's the microwave one for tablet that i stole from old style money saving board
    1 small can Carnation milk
    1lb caster sugar
    2oz butter

Place all ingredients in a large bowl and mix well
Cook on high for 12 mins - stir at 4mins and 8mins.
Remove from oven and add few drops vanilla extract
Beat hard with a wooden spoon.
Pour into a greased tray, mark into squares and cut when cold
    that and tablet delicious!

havent tried it yet but will let you know if it works okay, think i'll make a hamper for my dads birthday as i always struggle to know what to get. let me know how you get on with the macaroon

oh oh Amber best story I can think of little kids would have to be the one about my sister!!

In the states we have a brand of lighters called bic and there was an advert on telly that ran for years and stated coffe tea or a flick of my bic. well......

my little sis was prob about 6 or 7 at the time, maybe slightly older and we were in a cafe one day and she was forever muttering stuff about anything. Anyway the waitress came over to take our order and my sister at the top of her voice and smiled sweetly and matter of factly stated, "yes please, coffee, tea or a flick of my !!!!!!" the whole place went suddenly very quiet and then errupted in laughter and she has to this day NEVER lived it down!!
