Okay, after my research on my essay last night I decided I was going to try using milk as a cleanser (it was good enough for cleopatra after all!) and it appears to work.

The lactic acid opens up the pores and removes any dead skin cells. It does need to be thouroughly washed off though. Obviously anything acidic will alter the Ph level of your skin and well milk will go pongy esp in this weather.

Anyway, for me (with extra sensitive skin) it appears to work. Skin is bright and very soft. May be a moneysaving type tip in there somewhere. Maybe i should do an 'alternative' beauty blog :rotfl:.

Right, here is my moral dilemma of the morning - worked on a friend's website for free to say the least it was not an enjoyable or easy process. I still like said friend and she has asked me to do some more work - don't mind doing it. But, what is the nicest way of saying that I won't work for free ever again and she has to pay me.

It is a very tough situation - ask her what she can do in return for the time. I have never done anything for free, I have done things for no financial cost however that is not free.

Free is when someone expects it for absolutely nothing in return. Is there anything she can do for you in return - even if its a completley menial task to allow you to find the time?

To give you an idea (apart from the website) I have a friend who does all my bookkeeping at no financial cost to me. However in return I spend time fixing his car (I am also quite a capable home mechanic iykwim) and servicing it. All he pays is the price of the parts (Which I get trade discount on through another friend of mine who I built a website for)

What I am saying, is payment is not always financial, whilst we all need money to live (I cant see a bank accepting me fixing a car as payment for my mortgage), bartering has always been about an exchange of skills from one side to another.

Another such example, I am getting my car painted (When I get of my back side and finish my work on the car) at a localish body shop in exchange for me building them a website. I pay there material costs and vice versa. We are both getting something we would be paying a lot for in labour costs yet in the end it is working out about even.

the key thing everyone must remember - is these jobs are always backburner jobs to cash jobs and if they take you longer - so be it!

NLID - I can honestly say that she has nothing to offer me (apart from her friendship of course). The motivation is less financial but more a matter of respect; I have accepted bartering, gifts, etc. But, I was offered nothing at all for this site whatsoever.

I don't even want a backlink from her site as it is not a project that I want to be associated with at all. Three other friends including me have worked on the same project and we only just stopped short of swearing a blood oath never to work with her again! She is great fun generally, but business forget it.

Just say at the moment you have had an influx of business and that if you did hers for free you would be turning away paying customers ... hint hint ... and see what she says?

Or alternatively Dilli - (if it is a small task!!) say I will do it this time but from now I am charging for all my work, so if you want this next time it will be X, which are of course mates rate!! (whether they or aren't is up to you but t sounds nicer!!)

I think a beauty blog with MSE tips would be fab - look at that girl who 'copies' celebs makeup and puts videos on YouTube - she now has a regular slot on This Morning .....so could be well worth it!! And thanks for the tip!!

If she is a true friend she will understand you need to make a living, if not then she isn't worth having as a friend anyway!!!!!!!!

We do need a 'chat' - and I need to get my head around all your ideas!!! and prioritise!!!

Got to go Fridge Freezer is here!!! :j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j

  • LOL fair enough!

I know the sort of person, just tell her you are trying to seperate friendship from business as you dont want things going sour in the friendship over the project.

then when(should read if) she asks for a quote, price yourself out of the market

Big thank you Mrs MOney!!! Just had the email confirming I have an appointment for the survey on Monday morning!

Good! Got mine too! For Tuesday (I work all day Monday) - says there's only 20 of us - so if that's true we did well! These things all rely on us being at the computer when the email first arrives and then signing up quick I think!

While I'm here anyone had experience of opening a second Ebay account? Wondered if it was complicated - just upgraded my orignal one to a business account (will not be using it until I can think of something to buy and sell!) But I have stacks of junk and clothes I've just sorted out - plus what I already had under the bed still to get rid of - so another private account has to be opened - any advice appreciated!

Oh, that ship has sailed, when I saw her last week she was talking about redesigning the site I thought to myself 'Stop smoking crack! I am not doing it!' :rotfl:

Just open one with a different email address - has never caused me any problems and I have had upto 5 accounts at one time (for differing items that are being sold)

Ask her if she realises what money you have lost when it comes to doing the work for her. Admittedly I can be quite confrontational with my friends and so not all my tactics are for the best of the friendship, but then again I cant stand people who use and abuse.

It may be the reason I have very few friends though :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
