Portable Mortgage

Options
Hi everyone

We currently have a fixed rate mortgage with Britannia which is due to end July 2012.

My DH has been offered a job in Norfolk and we want to move so that he can take it, can someone please talk me through porting our mortgage.

I know that it is possible through Britannia as its in the paperwork. But we want to buy a bigger house and will need to extend the mortgage. Will this be possible without paying the erc and having to take a new mortgage?

Many Thanks
BeauBelle

It's treated as a new application. If it's approved you would keep the current amount at the existing rate - the further amount would be at today's rates.

we have just done this halifax gave us the same 92500 at current rate and 18,000 at new rate with a £1000 fee for new part . we have had to clear credit and loans so watch if you have these we are lucy enough to have equity and this is what we were going to do with this money anyway.
So finally debt free and it feels amazing however continuing here to stay debt free.Next declutter house and body and finally swim under that waterfall x
