Are worth 1p each right?

So the current offer buy 2 chart DVD get 500 bonus points is worth £5 cash back right?

New Moon £13 Tesco
2012 £12 Tesco

Might aswell buy them online for £10 & £9 respectively, but will probably wait a few months and they will be even cheaper online anyway.

As others have said, tesco points are worth up to x4 their value in deals. You can use the vouchers in store and then £5 is worth £5. Or exchange them for days out/restaurant vouchers/holidays/RAC membership/Magazine subscriptions etc etc and then can be worth £20.

We use ours mostly on restaurant deals, and as I buy alot of CD's anyway this deal was a no brainer.Spend £17 on 2 decent chart CDs that I would have only got a few quid cheaper elsewhere, has given me £20 in deals.

I never find anything worth having in Tesco deals. I've had 2 subscritions to Gardeners World magazine but I'm not really that interested in the magazine anyway. So my points never get converted (except as mentioned 2 GW sub) into deals.
