Slow cookers

Having just been browsing that no knead recipe on the Web - they are saying that its very important to use the right size/shape of container to ensure the bread rises okay.
The suggestion was made of using slowcooker inserts for this.
I do have two slowcookers - both ceramic (one with a Pyrex lid and the other with a ceramic lid).
So - I'm wondering if these are okay to use in my oven.
Has anyone tried using slowcooker inserts as casserole dishes/breadbaking dishes in the oven? Were they okay to use?

My Morphy Richards manual said not to use the crock pot in an oven. Not sure why as it looks like a normal casserole. Don't think the lid would stand up to the heat though due to the handle.0

Hi ceridwen,
This thread may help you to decide whether or not to try it:
Will ceramic slow cooker go in the oven?
I'll add your thread to that one later to keep the replies together.

Thanks for that.
Looks like it probably boils down to I could use the one that has a ceramic lid (at not TOO hot a temperature) and the other one wouldnt be possible (because I think the knob on the lid is probably plastic and would melt).

Ceridwen, I don't think I would risk it myself
It could make a mighty mess if it cracks, and you will be one slow cooker down.
Do let us know how you get on though if you try
A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men
