I have been working in a secondment post for eighteen months now. It was originally for a year, but has been extended twice. When this current extension ends I will be required to return to my substantive post. I have always known this. If the post I am currently doing is advertised, I will have the opportunity to apply, along with everybody else. The only advantage I will have over any other candidates is that I know the job inside out.

Therefore, if you were working as a secondee, then no, you have no ways of 'making' them take you on permanently. Perhaps you should just be grateful you have had the opportunity to do the job. If you are agency staff (the two are very different) then you definitely cannot make them take you on permanently.
