Hi again,
if you do start on a dmp (after having professional advice), if you're anything like me, you'll so wish you started it long ago. If only I could change history! I don't think I have ever heard anyone say they have regretted it.
xAs Forrest Gump said "life is like a box of chocolates". Its just a shame I seem to be all the nutty ones!0 -

I did get advice from the CCCs but having gone so far down the road it just seemed easier to carry on. There were times when DCA's were being unreasonable and the CCCS just kept giving me wise advice and to be resolute.
We had already reached the point where most of the debts were non- interest bearing so we knew the debt would not go much higher - the few that are charging interest are charging a nominal rate of 3% and they will soon be gone. Then we will see the debt go down properly - and we then face the choice of opting to get rid of the smaller debts or working at the big ones. Psychologically getting rid of the smaller ones is a bigger boost but ........:rotfl:
We started at £30k+ and 15 or so creditors and are now at £24.5k and 10 creditors so the end is still a long way off but we can see it!!
Good luck

As others have said, being on a dmp is the best thing I've done! I've been with CCCS for over 2 years and prior to that I was seriously struggling to make ends meet and not paying essentials but paying debts instead.
When I started my dmp, I was told it would take me 9 years to clear - I was paying £250 pm for debts of 28k. I've since changed jobs, get paid a lot more and now pay over double that amount and i don't go without and will be debt free in about 3 years, providing I can continue paying what I am.
Any extra amount I have, I save and throw at my debts by making F&F's along the way on the smaller debts.
Being on a dmp has made me more aware of money and the value of things as I can't get things on credit any more so have to budget.Debt 30k in 2008.:o Cleared all my debt in 2013 and loving being debt free
Mortgage free since 20140
