How do I sell video footage to the media?

Hi,
If I had, on video, something funny or news-worthy or generally topical, how would I go about selling it?
I do have something in mind that, although not particularly news-worthy, is moderately topical and may, possibly, at a stretch, be of interest to someone.
I'm sure, apart from the main broadcasters and 'news' agencies, there must be an army of companies dealing in this sort of thing, but I wouldn't know what to look for.
Any advice?
Thanks.

Not a lot of help, but a few months ago I remember seeing an article on a programme about a web site where members of the public could sell pictures/videos to the media.
The web site was some sort of go between, until a price was agreed/paid.
Can't remember the name of the site, but if you search google you may find it.0 -
Sorry, I'm pretty sure the site was either scoopt or scooplive, both are now closed.0

Thanks.
I haven't had any luck with Google.
If my footage is worth anything, I don't want it on YouTube where I and nobody else will get a penny for it.0 -
ironically speaking you can submit vidz to google. I dont know much but i think they have different types of contracts with them e.g if you want to get paid per click of your vid or something. I am pretty sure you would have to pay some fee first in order to go abouts doing it like this.Hello there0

could you not just email sky, bbc etc, saying,'i have footage of xyz, would you like to buy it?' and see where it goes from there?0

Most newspapers have websites now... They'd be likely to have videos of certain events on their websites. Try contacting those. I know some of my local newspapers have this as an option, at least.
And have you ever heard of something called oddbox? It's something run by the BBC. It's basically the 10 oddest news stories of the week put together into a video on the BBC website. If it's something particularly odd, it my be worth submitting there.0 -
The more I think about it the more I realise my footage is useless, but I'll have a look at Demotix and Oddbox, anyway.
Thanks.0
