I hope this is in the right place, it is relevant to our debts.
We have just been refused by the whole of market mortgage companies, except for the highest bracket which will leave us know better off really. We are NOT trying to borrow more money, just trying to leave the evil RBS and First National, and make lower monthly payments to try get back on our feet as we simply cannot afford the £850 per month we are paying now.
The reason behind our refusal is the RBS having logged us as default on our loans and mortgage payments. So, I phoned them up to see why? as I cannot understand having made regular payments for the last 18 months how on earth we could be showing defaults? Seems if the payments are late this will continue? is this right? The thing is they are not late leaving me, as I have just been told they have not recieved July's payment which I did send last week, but as they 'allededly' have not got it showing on their system yet I remain in default? despite paying every month.
I just dont understand this.
I asked if there was anything I could do, and of course the good old RBS are willing to offer me more money and a new loan once we are out of default, but we need to change to lower payments NOW.
Things are very bleak this month, I only managed to pay all the bills by selling on ebay and doing craft fairs over the weekend - and I mean JUST leaving me with no money at all this week.
Can anyone advise me on this? or move if I am in the wrong place.
thank you

how exactly are you paying RBS then?0

By cheque each month.
The really strange thing I just thought of though, I send the cheques at the same time, the mortgage account is fine, but the loans one isnt? How does that work?
Had nothing but bother with the RBS for last ten years, thats why we changed personal accounts, just been on the consumer board to find an address to finally vent to about the whole thing, not that it will get me anywhere.

sorry.you say you 'send', why not pay at the bank or by Direct debt or standing order or online banking?
are you sending the right paper work with the cheques, are they meant to go to the same address? are the cheques being cashed properly.0 -
I send them to the address I was told too and have been doing for sometime. They have all the right account numbers on the back.
You have a good point though, as I now have to 'be sure' they are there by the beginning of the month maybe I should request a method of paying them into the bank.
Still doesnt answer the question of why the account is marked 'default' when they claim a couple of payments were late, regardless of who's fault it was the fact remains the payments have always been made as instructed (I still maintain I did send them on time though)
