Cabot Financial plaguing me with calls.

Firstly, I dd try searching Cabot and didn't find anything that related to me.
Secondly, I apologise if I'm going over old ground.
Basically I had a debt with another company [Capital One], which has been passed to Cabot, and has been/ continues to be paid by Standing Order @ £10 pm (as originally agreed).
The Cabot agreement [£10 as agreed by CO] ran fine for about a year, although I've never received a statement from them, so I don't know what my outstanding balance is (that only occured to me thanks to their calls).
And I continue to pay this monthly.
Anyway, they're now bombarding me with calls; first my landline (which I cancelled the call because I didn't know who it was from) and now my mobile - 4/5 calls a day.
Is there any way I can find out how much I owe this crowd in order to get them off my back, I'd rather take a loan out (who will loan me, but still? lol) I can't take this harrasment form 'Lizzy Lambert' any longer.
The debt was less that £2000 when bought over, if that helps?

Thanks so much for that.
I know I should've had a proper read through this forum first but I just didn't know where to start. I'll fire off a letter to them on Tuesday.0 -

Why don't you just answer the call ?? Do you know why they are calling ?
I have dealt with them - I guess the reason they are calling is to get your monthly payment increased.
They will want your monthly SOA in writing to determine how much they can raise your £10 per month.
It is annoying but they will keep calling until you answer them.
By the way, if the agreement is with Cabot, surely them trying to contact you is not against any law as you are a 'client' of theirs ??!!Thanks to MSE I cleared £37k of debt in five years and I was lucky enough to meet Martin to thank him personally.0 -
Constant phone calls is harassment, also they tend to bully and twist your words. Talking to them on the phone is generally a bad idea.
If you send the DPA letter they have to remove your telephone number as they only need the your address to send letters instead.Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.

Surely DarkConvict, the constant phone calls are because the OP won't answer them - isn't that what you do, keep calling until you get hold of the person you want to speak to ??
Personally, I wouldn't call it harassment.
Ps I do realise how intimidating this must be but hitting your debts head on is the way - To me, this is sticking your head in the sand. Thanks to MSE I cleared £37k of debt in five years and I was lucky enough to meet Martin to thank him personally.0 -
it is never a good idea to phone a dca all you will get is abuse they are only interested in extorting more money out of youGRADUATED FIRST CLASS WITH HONORS FROM THE SCHOOL OF HARD KNOCKS RECOMENDED READ IF BY RUDYARD KIPLING0

Hi Richard, I did answer their initial call to my landline. It was an automated voice asking me to confirm my details i.e. Address, D.O.B etc but they didn't state who they were, just said it was a call on behalf of a financial matter. Stupid I know, but I was wakened out of a sleep and when the [automated] voice asked me to press button 1 to confirm I was Miss xxxx xxxxx I pressed it without thinking.
That's when I hung up the phone. Since then they've been contacting my mobile 4/5 times a day with the same automated voice mail.
If they want to write to me, in order to verify who they are, I'll gladly call them back and deal with any financial matters they wish. But, as it is, I don't trust "cold callers", especially those who don't even have a real person calling me.
Thanks to all for your comments. I haven't been online all day and was surprised to see more replies. I thought I'd have been relegated to at least page 12 by now. :rotfl:
I'll post the letter on Tuesday anyway, no harm in it.0 -

Ahh - the good old computer calling - I have had that too and wouldn't speak to it either.
If someone wants to speak to me then they can call me and NOT a machine !!Thanks to MSE I cleared £37k of debt in five years and I was lucky enough to meet Martin to thank him personally.0 -

Hi Lou76, I had an Argos account that ended up with Cabot, and I managed to deal with it online. Do you have any debt reference number from them? If so, you could perhaps try and log on to their website to see if this gives you any more info and balance etc without actually having to talk to anyone.

The log in is above, but as I mentioned you do need a reference number to log in.
Good Luck!!0
