safeway / morrisons bargains

Options
have been to 2 of my local Morrissons over the past few days and noticed that any stuff they have with the Safeway label on it is going cheap. this is situated at the end of some of the isles everything from jars and tins etc all still with plenty off date left on them might be worth going to your local marrissons to check it out obviously whatever they have left to get rid of the safeway name and put morrisons on the the market :)

first new post hope someone benefits

Welcome to the chat forums bargainboy.

I'll pop into my local safeway / morrisons tomorrow to see if there is anything worth buying.

  • The reason that you'll see a lot of Safeway branded merchandise going for next-to-nothing is that Morrisons want to get rid of the old stock shortly before the shop gets a full refit to Morrisons. I've seen that happen in the stores here in Edinburgh. Keep your eyes out for some bargain buys!

  • I was in the 'South Edinburgh' Safeway/Morrisons yesterday (anyone local will know where it is) and they have LOADS of stuff reduced, not only safeway branded stuff either.

Some good buys I picked up included:

Loreal Elvive Protective Mask (colour protect) £0.25p
Garnier Fructis Style Polishing Wax £0.20p
Sunsilk Shampoo (or conditioner) Aloe Serum (for frizz prone wavy/curly hair) £0.98p a bottle.
Sunsilk Frizz Control Cream (leave-in) £0.20p

    Lloyd Grossman Pasta £0.48p
De Kroes Gourmet Sea salt&cracked pepper biscuits (think those were £0.40p)
Baklsen Choco Leibniz (orange milk chocolate biscuits) approx £0.40p
Cadburys Milky bar buttons (individual packs) £0.10p
Safeway Bacon Rasher Crisps (individual packs) £0.10p

There was much much more, but all items seemed to be selling out fast. I even heard one staff member on her mobile, calling her mum to come quickly and grab some bargains!

Also worth glancing at 'normal' aisle price labels as some are red, indicating a price reduction.

Don't forget to keep an eye on the booze aisles.

When our Safeways got a refit - the last things to be reduced before it closing for a couple of days were own brand vodka, whisky, gin & beer.
  • Just been to the Tescos in Loughboroigh and they are having a sale on Champagne! They were serveral half price ones from £30 to £15 and £10 to £5.

  • Yes - it must be the Moredun one! That's closing soon for the full refurb and - I understand also getting extended!

  • Kepp going back every day if you can! This happened in our local ones - things like two packs of sellotape for 9p - then they put the home baking down and ethnic foods. Nicorette gum was going for 99p - I bought loads and sold them on eBay! Toy Story DVD's for £1.99 etc - if you know a friendly worker there stop and chat to them!!!;)
  • It is indeed the Moredun Safeway I was in!
