Writing a letter to HSBC

Hiya,

I am writing a letter to HSBC regarding my outstanding balance.

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing to you in relation to the following HSBC account:

Account Name: *************
Account Number: *************
Sort Code: *************

I currently have an outstanding balance of £582.88

Due to my current financial position, I would ask for the option of being able to pay off this balance in monthly instalments of £30.

Please could you send me information on how to go about this.

Yours Faithfully.

Should I include anything else?

Also I am wondering weather to send this to my local branch or is there a head office address? I have googled such to no avail.

Thanks

  • Hi

I would add a bit more information into the letter if I were you. For example you need to explain why you can no longer afford the agreed repayments in a bit more detail, ie ilness, lack of work etc. I would also include a copy of your budget, to prove that £30 is all you can afford to repay.

There are plenty of templates available on The National Debtline Website, which can be altered to suit your circumstances.

    Good luck with it all.

BTW you need to ask them to consider freezing interest on the account to.

Thanks for that mate. I have changed the letter slightly:

I currently have an outstanding balance of £582.88

I am 20 years old and due to a family issue, I have had no other choice but to live on my own, having to rent my own home. I am finding it financially difficult, especially as this is my first home and there are various costs and bills which need to be paid which I did not anticipate initially. I would ask that an agreement of £30 per month could be paid back against my current outstanding balance, and the interest to be frozen. Should my agreement be accepted by yourself, in the nearby future I would intend to increase my payment to £50 per month but at the moment this is not possible.

    Many thanks for your understanding.

    Thoughs?
