advice on buying bathroom - online

Hi,
I'm buying a bathroom (shower, sink, toilet). Lots of sale on in shops, but I don't know if it's still cheaper to shop online (ebay etc). The only concern I have is not knowing the quality of the items online.
Does anyone have any advise?
Thanks

I would think if you stick to well known names like Ideal Standard or Twyford you should be OK. Do they do fake bathroom stuff???0

In my experience some of the bathrooms sold via stores are equally as likley to be of poor quality. A search on the net should give you some insight into the quality and service of any retailer or brand. My personal advice would to be steer clear of 'bath store' sadly I didnt do a search before buying:mad:0

I bought a large bath online and a shower screen from a trader on ebay. Both were good quality. The delivery charges for the bath were steep but as the bath was a hell of a lot cheaper than in the shops I was still pleased. I can't remember which online shop it was from though.
Edit - I think the bath was from Bathoholic0 -
Right, OK. Thanks a lot. I'll do some more research on online options.0

I insist on a steel bath because I have found the plastic ones to be a little unstable. I bought our last bathroom from Wickes and it came with a steel bath. I think it was made in eastern europe and all the ceramic stuff was really good but the 'gold' fittings were rubbish aqnd became tarnished very quickly. If I was doing it again I would buy separate 'quality' overflow and plug outlet for the bath.
Incidentally I thought it was just me who had problems with plastic baths but a friends son put his foot through one a few weeks ago when he stretched out in the bath.I'm Glad to be here... At my age I'm glad to be anywhere!!
I'm not losing my hair... I'm getting more head!!0 -
I've recently installed new bath / shower rooms at home and I had the same concerns about buying sanitaryware online. There is plenty of rubbish about - poorly glazed items mainly (maybe seconds?)
In the end I got the sanitaryware from B&Q (baths), Jewsons (handbasins) and Plumbase (WC, shower trays) when each had varying offers on and I could inspect them myself. The prices I paid were not much more than many eBay deals and when one toilet arrived broken I was glad I did not have to pay postage to send it back!
However I bought showers (Mira) and taps (Bristan) from eBay since I figured these could not really go wrong - and everything has worked out fine. I could probably have saved a few quid with a bit more effort but everything matches and works a treat so I'm happy!0 -
Anyone used the Bath Store, are they any good?0
