Poor Chloe! I wonder how much longer you can get away with it!
I think I'm going to have a cheese toastie, I didn't have breakfast or lunch today and I'm starving.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0 -
Blimey, I think you could probably replace all the furniture in my flat for £3k! It's stupid, I got into debt to furnish my first flat with a loan, nearly all of the furniture's worn out now and replaced with second hand/dead cheap stuff and it's all nicer than it used to be. Apart from the sofa, which is evil and will be replaced as soon as my virtual sealed pot and quidco takings are enough.
We actually could afford it at the time, it was only when me and Oh both lost our jobs that we ended up in debt...however, we were both earning good money at the time and I now wish that we had saved money instead of just spending it.
It was a stupid buy though.Quality is doing something right when no one is looking - Henry Ford

Ellie, freecycle and ebay are your friend! I've picked up some really nice bits for next to nothing, like my kitchen trolley, it must have cost £100 easily and I got it for nowt off freecycle.
I'm really annoyed though at some people, I really want a nice ottoman and saw a gorgeous one in a furniture shop for people on low incomes for £15, went back the next day when I had money and it was gone, I saw it on ebay a couple of weeks later and bidding was up to £40 with ages to go. That's so not what the charity's there for.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0 -
Bloody hell Sammy 3k...Is it something that could be sold in a secondhand shop?
I know...obscene or what...almost ashamed to admit to it.
I just remembered I had an idea this morning to put it in the auctions near my mum...its a posh auction place though so hopefully should get something for it.:TQuality is doing something right when no one is looking - Henry Ford

My niece has just got a job as an 'upcycler'...they buy from charity shops or people donate furniture, they do them up and then they auction them off..its like a community project.Quality is doing something right when no one is looking - Henry Ford

Thanks Ames I am going to look for good quality pieces and build up gradually rather than buying the cheapo stuff I usually have to buy. I am determined to only buy when I can do it money neutrally.0

If you could afford it then there's nothing wrong with it - no-one has a crystal ball. And if you're anything like me if it hadn't been that it'd have been something stupid.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0

Sammy, that's fine if the money goes back into the community, that's doing more than just selling the stuff, but for someone to use that kind of charity to profiteer really seems wrong to me. Then again, an ottoman's not a vital piece of furniture, so it's not someone who really needs it that's missing out.
Elli, I'm kind of doing that, but instead of being money neutral it's from my change piggy bank. This month has been fun cos I bought some bits but haven't been bothered to go to the bank to pay in the change so I've been spending it instead of using my card or going to the atm. Carrying a bag full of change into a shop and counting out 20ps is an interesting experience...Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0 -
Sounds like a good plan Sammy...you might get enough from it to have a weekend away or pay for OH's 50th party
I'll make a wish, take a chance, make a change And breakaway. I'll take a risk, take a chance, make a change and breakaway ....
Finally Debt Free...0
