Promotion given but not written down

On Monday i was told i was going to be promoted from assistant to an executive. I was also told i was getting a small pay increase. We were paid this week and i can see that my pay has already increased to the new rate but i havent been given anything in writing to show the new title and new salary. Does it still count as a promotion or do i need to push for the paperwork so it is all official?

Does it matter what you are called? Surely the important issue is what you are paid? As it appears you have been paid at a higher rate, it would be fair to assume that the employers actions in offering you a promotion has been actioned. I am also assuming you have not refused the increase in pay? If you have accepted the money then you have a contract by conduct.

There is no requirement to issue a new contract to you immediately, rather it should be done within 8 weeks. Often companies seem particularly relaxed about this, however, as you can now evidence you 'new position' via the salary increase, I'm not sure why this is a problem? Perhaps a telephone call to HR after 8 weeks to chase up new contract?
