For those doing grocery challenge...

...and also saving £2 and 20p pieces. Do you save the aforementioned coins as soon as you get them in your change or do you wait till the end of the week and see what you have left?

It's just I got a £2 coin and a 20p in my change in ASDA tonight which made me think "Do I save this now?" But what if it leaves me short at the end of the week?

What do you all do?

I would put it in your collection and then if you need it you can always get it back - and if not it is in a safe place where you cant spend it.

I put them straight into the little pots I have. In fact, I am so sad, I even sometimes pay for something to try and manipulate what change I get. If I get 40p change as 4x10p and not 2x20p, I am disappointed. So then the 4x10p goes into the unused ashtray in the car for parking change.

Oh my god. I thought I was a real geek for doing this! In fact, I ask outright "please could I have that change in £2 coins rather than £1 coins?". All the shop keepers look at me like I am mad!!

I'm not in the grocery challenge but I put it straight in the pot when I get home from work at the end of the day. I get too excited!

I think what I'll do is put them in the middle section of my purse and try and manage without them and save them at the end of the week if I don't need them. I suppose it's an extra incentive as well to see if I can manage on even less! :D

Thanks for the replys everyone :)

I started the habit of saving 10p coins because of my Mum,she had done it for years.

Now I save 20p coins and I obsessively put every one into my piggybank. If I have to spend one occasionally,I get quite upset,It's sad really.
I also try to manipulate what change I get.For example,I know that if I put £1 into the coffee machine at work for a 20p coffee,it will always give my change in 20p coins, which I can then put into my piggybank.

I think I am going to start the £2 coin Challenge.I don't get many of them, but every little helps.
