dwp overiding doctors note.

I'm sorry for your wife's pain and injury, but the DWP assessment is on different criteria to a doctor's sick-note.
To be honest, there ARE plenty of jobs you can do one-handed. I injured my right arm badly last year, I'm right-handed, and I'm still only at about 70% strength/mobility. But once I'd stopped being doped up to the eyeballs, I was able to return to work with an arm/hand that still really didn't work at all at that stage. I learned to write with my left hand, type and use a mouse etc, so although I was slower than usual, it didn't stop me doing anything. I was going to the hospital 4 times a week for physio and occupational therapy, and gradually improved over time. At the point when I returned to work, it wasn't clear whether there would be much improvement or if I'd be left with a permanent disability, but it never crossed my mind I wouldn't be able to work either way. It's amazing what you can do with one hand when you have to. I was treated for a total of 8 months, and worked for 6 of those.
I know it depends on your wife's job, but most employers will do what they can to adjust your role to help you cope. Even if that's not possible in her current job, it doesn't mean she isn't fit to work in another job.Cash not ash from January 2nd 2011: £2565.:j
