I am left with 0 funds and dont know what to say to the bank tomoro when i ring up.
I have a 16 month old son to provide for and i think its disgraceful...PLEASE HELP!

Firstly, they must have a reason for doing this. I know that banks are money grabbing shysters but even then they won't run the risk of losing a customer by doing this.
Secondly, I think it will be in their own T&Cs that they have to give you notice.
Thirdly, you could well have a case to take to the ombudsman.
Here are the questions: Did the bank send you any letters warning you of this? Are you classed as a "delinquent borrower" (always going over your limit)? Have you started action to get your charges refunded?
You're right, this is a disgrace. But there might be a little more to it or it could just be a mistake.[strike]-£20,000[/strike] 0!0 -
It's worth contacting the Benifits office to see if they can make an emergency payment to you for you son aswell. All comments and advice given is my own opinion and does not represent the views or advice of any debt advice organisation.

hi!
thanks to both of you for your posts
Ill look into the benefits rules and stuff Wonder_Girl
RE Dr Shoes post, i didnt get any letters at all warning me of this (its happened before in fact!), i never go over my limit, so assume im not classed as a "delinquent borrower" and i havent started any action to get my charges back.
I could sort of understand them doing this if i was any of the abve but im not so im more confused than ever! lol
can you explain more about the ombudsman bit after you have read this post if you dont mind as i havent a clue where i stand when ringing them up tomoro to get my overdraft reinstated?
thanks!

Hi miss-d,
Am really sorry to hear about your trouble. Would it help to go down there and see a 'real person' at the bank? Sometimes it can be easier than trying to explain over the phone. Do they think your student account has expired now? Hopefully it will just be a bad misunderstanding on their part that you can clear up. Also, I don't know if you're in the NUS but you could always ring/email them for advice too. Good luck. I hope yopu resolve it soon. You - only you- will have stars that can laugh :rotfl:
