How easy is it to get hold of Europe maps for this? I need the Netherlands mostly but others would probably be useful in the future. There are a couple of SmartST map sets on ebay but only a couple and they're quite pricey. Would swapping to TomTom be a more sensible solution? Would like to add 7-digit postcode search somehow.
Also, what's the battery life like? Thinking of using it as an MP3 player on flights and the train etc. Does it only have the one SD card slot or could I run a SDIO Wi-FI card at the same time as my maps/mp3 card?0 -
Putting on TomTom would be easiest, loads of cheap ones on Ebay for sale.0

And I assume I can keep SmartST for use in the UK so long as I have enough SD card space? Would like to give the alternative(s) a chance.0

I bought one of these from Navman approx 2 months ago. It has so far been a first rate bit of kit.
although it says recon/2nd grade stock it came boxed as of new and I cannot see anything to suggest that it is anything except brand new. Remember, sometimes manufacturers use these terms when selling cheap so as not to upset their retailers/stockists, and really the kit is new!!
The Satnav alone is worth the money. The pda feartures are a real bonus. If you buy from navman you get 3 CD's with main routes of Europe on as well as street level mapping of the UK. But, if you need street level Europe you need to buy the unlock key from Navman. Unless anyone here knows how to obtain access otherwise?
I've had an odd crash, usually when i try and change functions too quickly. Otherwise picks up the satellites quickly, including through the heated windscreen of my partners car. Re-routing takes seconds and the maps are pretty well bang up to date. Have used it to get around a the country lot since I've had it and it is proving indispensible.
I belive you can also buy on Ebay a programme that will let you record up to 20 hours of films on to it so you can watch them whilst on flights, trains, etc.
All in all I would certainly buy again and recommend to anyone.0
