Need a new DVD player

My DVD is on the way out, two of my recent purchases will not play properly although they do on my parents player.
Can't really complain, it was a Daytek model and cost around £30 over two years ago.
So, what do I get now? Needs to be reasonably cheap but do the job & play whatever I throw at it! Not bothered if it is a popular brand as long as it works well and is region free.
Any suggestions?

Word of advice - don't buy a cheap one from Tesco! Had one of the Alba ones and the picture quality is awful. You get what you pay for, so best stick to a decent make.
The best ones I've had are by Sony and Panasonic.
I've got a Panasonic DVD recorder which I'm using now. Got it from Tesco for £109 and you get a fairly good playback. It's not as good as the Sony one I had though, but that cost a lot more money.0 -
£109!!! Given that the OP's last one cost £30 two years ago do you really think they'd be looking to spend £109 this time round?
I use a CyberHome DVD Recorder that I got from Asda for about £70 and I can't fault it. It plays everything I've thrown at it so far, including divx.
Amazon have a CyberHome Player for about £33 delivered HEREMarillion - A Better Way of Life.0 -

I spent about £200 on a DVD player years ago, lasted about the same amount of time as the Daytek, top make too.

loads of places have the phillips dvr3005/3020 for about £40 - its a nice wee player although has none of the exta features (divx etc). I've got one and it is a nice wee player.
My local tesco had them reduced to 27.97 last week but only had a couple left...0
