Step account NAtwest

Has anyone on here kept their step account with NAtwest after BR? I opened this up last week ready for when we are BR and natwest said it would be ok? I'm just worried that they will take it off me after reading things on here??? It is basic account, no cheque book etc.

Hi, I know there are mixed opinions about Natwest but we opened ours up (normal accounts) a few weeks before BR and all they did was change them to step accounts, we have happily continued without any problems and that was last July. I have heard of a few more people who have been able to keep them but it does seem to be touch and go sometimes
Good luck with it[STRIKE]Shazbo[/STRIKE]

Same for me. OR was not interested in it and Nat West did not freeze it. Does not happen all the time though. Think I was one of the lucky ones

Natwest have been known to be a bit fickle and close accounts as and when they feel like it even a few months down the line. I'd suggest you change banks just in case. Barclays are BR friendly, Natwest are not.Debt 30k in 2008.:o Cleared all my debt in 2013 and loving being debt free

I agree, I would recommend Barclays Bank more than the CO-OP.
I had a Natwest Step account and they let me use it for a month then I went to get some money out of a ATM and they took the card. Called them and said they would not keep the account open. I am currently with Barclays, they where also a creditor of mine to the tune of around £2,000, but they still opened me a basic bank account.0 -

The OR will write to them.
Also they get regular updates on insolvencies from the London Gazette, and your bankruptcy is recorded on your credit reference files.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB
