Martin's Book - Should I buy it?

Hi all,
I am considering buying Martin's :money: book (£2.84 delivered on Amazon second hand) but will it be any use considering all the advice on the website?
I like the idea of being able to lend it to people once I've finished with it.
Thoughts?
PS Also, the price above relates to the older 2004 edition. Much difference?

I bought it shortly after LBM. There's a lot of repeated information from the boards, but it's laid out logically and you can start at the beginning and work your way to the end - it's a bit easier than sifting through all the boards looking for stuff. There is a lot of stuff that wasn't relevant to my own situation, but it may well become relevant at a later date, so I will keep it to refer to. (Actually, it's currently on loan to a friend) I do think it's worth getting it - and you can always sell it on afterwards!Official DFW Nerd No 096 - Proud to have dealt with my debt!0

Thanks for the comments everyone. I will ponder the decision for a few days and see if I still want one.
Perhaps I should get a copy from the library and decide if I need my OWN copy?LBM: Nov 2004 Debt Apr06: £19,273.46 (Highest)

Yeah, I bought it and read it cover to cover. It will impress a lot of good advice which you may have missed on the boards. Plus, buy it new and put some money in Martin's pocket... then sell it on!Student Loan Company Ltd: 17,805 (2.8%) Overdraft: 500 (Interest free)

Why not get it out the library, you can prolly renew it for a long time if u dont finish it in timeThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

I think I might get one myself.[strike]-£20,000[/strike] 0!0

It's great - but my copy is currently with a friend and I'm missing it!
I'd grab it out of the library first. Then, if you like it, you can "invest".
I managed to cut my gas/electricity bills by £24 a month a week after buying it, so it paid for itself quickly. What if the hokey cokey is what it's all about? :eek:Official "Bring back Mark and Lard NOW! or else (please)" Member 160 -
Either I just got lucky or there is a healthy second hand market for them on Amazon as I listed mine last night and woke up this morning to find it had sold! Obviously not as much as I bought it for, but it got something back from it. Now I've found the website I can get any of the info I need anyway.0

I bought it and found it much easier to read and digest it in bed than having to look through this site for information. It helped me with a credit card shuffle and after reading the book the website made much more sense to a newbie. If you can get it in the library then go for it. It's not exactly an expensive item anyway but every penny counts.100 Day Pot £13
