Had an email from the Vibe Bar re their Singapore Chilli Crab Festival on this weekend. Entry is free - there will be cooking demonstrations, music, lion dancing etc, but obviously you will need to fork out if you want any major shopping/food/drinks etc - although I'm always hopeful of the odd free sample at these kind of events!

With this, and the free Fruitstock festival on in Regents Park, it's going to be a very sociable (and hopefully cheap!) weekend.

The Tiger Beer Chilli Crab Festival London event takes place in August, presenting gourmet Singapore cuisine in a vibrant festival atmosphere. Vibe Bar will be brimming with Singaporean flavour in a unique food festival, taking place alongside a sister event in New York.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Singapore Chilli Crab dish, one of the country’s most famous culinary exports. To celebrate the occasion Tiger Beer has teamed up with the Singapore Tourism Board to present a two day Asian fusion festival, with plenty of food, drink, fun and festivities in London.

Join the party in Brick Lane. Vibe Bar will be bubbling with traditional Singaporean entertainment and attractions, transforming the venue into a little slice of Singapore in London. Visitors can browse authentic stalls offering food, clothing, crafts and more, to a backdrop of live entertainment. Expect lion dance displays, live music and more during a weekend of colourful fun. The festival is also simultaneously taking place in New York, making it a truly international affair.

Visitors to the Chilli Crab Festival London can indulge in Singapore culture with henna tattoos, relaxing massages and hand written Chinese calligraphy. Celebrity chef Violet Oon will also be on hand with live cookery demonstrations throughout the event, showing the crowds how to prepare the legendary Chilli Crab dish.

Wash it down with a bottle of Tiger Beer. Festival goers can enjoy their Chilli Crabs with a bottle or two of Tiger Beer, thought to be the perfect accompaniment to the popular dish. There will be more than enough beer to go round throughout the Chilli Crab Festival London event, which promises to be a lively affair for all concerned. Cheers.

Visitors to the festival will have the chance to win a holiday for two to Singapore, with a runner up prize of a year’s supply of Tiger Beer. For a chance to win all you need to do is complete a competition entry form on the day.

The Tiger Beer Chilli Crab Festival takes place at Vibe Bar, Brick Lane, from Saturday 5th - Sunday 6th August. The festival starts at 12 noon and continues throughout the day. Entry is free.
