Hello Guys
I want to buy a HD tv soon, now I would like to keep the budget to £300- £450 and woudl like a 32 inch screen, when looking at some site iot mentions contrast ratios like 500-1 on a cheaper set upwards - how importnat is that feature?
Is Full HD 1080 better than HD ready?
Any help is mucho appreciated!

The difference between HD ready and Full HD is not really noticable on 32" screen unless you are sat 4 feet away.
My advice is to go for a decent brand such as Samsung, LG, Panasonic, Toshiba, Sony, and to try and get something with some form of warranty as these TV can and do fail.
John Lewis and Richer sounds offer warranties with their TVs, and M&S on certain TVs
Sony are also known for offering a 3 year warranty on certain TVS.
£350 nowadays should get you a decent 32" with Full HD, if you went up to £450 you would be able to get a full HD 37" or even an older model 42" if you looked around.
Most people these days tend to go for LCD as it is more reliable and energy efficient and has come on leaps and bounds quality wise.
Plasma is however also still popular though I have never had one.
Something like this looks good:

One thing worth bearing in mind is how you will be using the TV.
If you will be primarily using HD sources such as Blu-ray, Sky HD and Games consoles, full HD will be a better option.
However, I've read in a few places that HD Ready tends to give a better quality and is less "noisy" for everyday viewing of SD content such as Freeview.0 -
Thanks what a fantastic post, the deal looks fab but the space I have will only let me have a 32inch.
We just watch tv like most folk, big sports fans, so looking forward to seeing some sporting events in HD.
will see if Asda have similar spec on 32 inch.

If your going to invest your money on a tv go for full hd 1080 with a cntrast of something like 1000:1 ( I got a Samsung at this spec) .
HD ready tvs don have the same quality ( as that birlliant post at the beginning ecplained)

I too would recommend Richer Sounds, they have loads in your price range and a 5 year warranty is 10% of the purchase price, which most of the time is still cheaper than rivals.

Also, if you are after HDMI cables, go to ebay. I just got a HD cable for less than £2 works perfectly.0
