I just got a leaflet from halfords for 3 months breakdown cover with them for only £1. They are 3 types of cover from

Level 1 £32.99 which basic assantance repair and to a garage or home is less than 15 miles.

Level 2 £39.99 is same plus national recovery to home or anyway in UK cost of alt transport. 1 night accomodation and 48 hour car hire.

Level 3 £59.99 again all the same as leval 2 but you get assistance at your home.

I plumped for level 2. Plus the prices above are 12 months with the offer you only pay for 9 months which 1/4 off them prices. Plus you can pay by monthly dd.

Or you can just have the 3 months for a £1 then cancel the dd ideal if you just want cover for the summer holiday. :j

if you want to go beyond the £1 a month thing, you may want to look at Autoaid which is £32 a year and pretty much compariable to level 3. It's on Martins recovery article.

You have to claim after an incident but you get all the money back. Not good for the forgetful.

Thanks ry4n1234 for this post, we are travelling up north on Tuesday of next week, got top level cover for a quid, you cannot claim in the first 48 hours after the policy start date so make sure anyone who is travelling soon starts their cover straight away. I also told him that i would cancel the policy once the three months were up, he said "fine" the first payment would be taken 10 days after the 3 months was up, so all i have to do is cancell the Direct Debit. This is a great find well done and thanks again.

Can't see this option on line. There's nowhere to put a code. It asks for details and doesnt say you will get 3 months for £1

have 25% off RAC membership online, so I wonder if Halfords are using the RAC.

I must say that having compared prices with RACs web site (25% off) the Halfords offer is looking very good.

Off to Scotland on friday so just signed up for the level 3 at 59.99, paying just £1for the first 3 months, than 44.99 for 9 months.
It is run by First Call GB.
So 10 days before the 3 months policy runs out, I shall cancel Halfords policy and renew if required direct with First Call http://www.firstcallmotorbreakdown.co.uk/ukcover.cfm
as they only charge £42.50 for the full 12 months at the same covel level.
