Utility bills and bankruptcy, advice needed

We are due to go to court tomorrow for 9.30 for our BR, really worrying now, will be glad when it is all over. I have had to put my gas and electricity bills down on our BR (bills are in my name) both me and Hubby are going BR. What will happen about our future bills as we are in a privately rented house?? They can't fit meters can they???? Cant see landlord wanting that?!

make sure you take you meter reading and then they will set you up a new account for each

OH by they way your land lord can not say anything about having pre paid meters in, its better for them infact, at least they know the bills will get paid

It is not better for the landlord as they will struggle to get new tenants with pre paid metres installed. If the utility bills are not included in the rent, then these bills are the responsibilty of the tenant, so it's not for the landlord to worry about them getting paid.

The landlord will need to be informed if utility providers want to install pre paid metres.
RENTING? Have you checked to see that your landlord has permission from their mortgage lender to rent the property? If not, you could be thrown out with very little notice.

I was in a similar situation to you the end of last year and was also worried about this, I was with British Gas. As said above just take a meter reading on the day of BR and submit it to them (can do it online with BG). After about 4 months got a letter from BG saying that the arrears were now cleared and a new account opened. Didn't have to have a pre-pay meter fitted either, although in the letter it said I could have one if I wanted (gave me the choice).
