I'm having my first Virgin Vie Party tonight, got about 6 people coming.
Not sure what refreshments I should provide! I have a very limited budget.
I have a bottle of Asti, Lambrini, cherry brandy and some diet coke in!
I also bought some dips, bread sticks, pringles and carrots, cucumber and celeary for dips!
what else should I have? some more wine? something sweet? It's not till 8pm so most will have had some tea already!

I think crisps/dips wil be fine. You could always buy a huge bag of frozen c o c k tail sausage rolls (2 bags for £3 in Morrisons I think) to bulk it out a bit. If you want something sweet, could you bake a cake?
As for drink, how many of your guests will be driving?
I presume the whole point of the evening is to make a bit of extra cash, so you don't want to be spending all your profits on food & drink.0 -
I got pressured into having a party by a work colleague who informed me yesturday that she's now not coming :mad: Sadly I won't be earning any money, I'll just get a discount to spend in the catalogue depending on what people buy! I just want the make over to be honest :rotfl:
Never though of sausage rolls - OH can take them for pack up too! I'm a cake decorator so steer clear of making quick cakes (people judge me on them for when they want to buy one) I might nip to Heron's (don't know if their a national company but like Iceland) and get some porfriteroles!?
any rec's on cheap alocohol - 5 of the people are local so will be walking her i.e. next door neighbours and in-laws from round the corner!

Not sure about alcohol but quick and cheap snack idea is cheese straws- buy ready made puff pastry, roll out dead thin, cut in half, spread pesto / anything on half, top with a little cheese and place other half of puff pastry on top- push down well...
cut into strips about a cm wide, twist the strips and pop onto a baking tray (greased). Cook for 10mins on a hot heat. I tend to make them and pop them in the fridge and then cook and serve them hot once people have arrived. yummy!0 -
I have been to Virgin Vie parties where we had to take our own drink and there was just a bowl of crisps to nibble! You are providing quite enough!
The hostess will either be demonstrating jewellery, make up or smellies.... in each case, she won't want sticky fingers all over them
Everyone will be busy trying the products - they won't be expecting a full-on party. And with VV, it's not even as though you get decent comission - you don't get cash as you say, you get credit against the purchase of VV goods...
Just relax, enjoy the makeover and that way your guests will feel relaxed too.0 -
I've been spent £3.56 on a bag of frozen (50) sausage rolls, 12 canapes, 6 chocolate eclairs and a frozen pizza to cut up and put on a plate! again if people don't eat them, I'm sure my OH will take them as pack up tomorrow!:rotfl: or eat them when he gets back from the pub:beer:
thanks guys!
just gonna get some orange juice and bottle of red wine!

You know, if you picked up some club soda, or ginger ale, you would have all the makings of Sangria - great in this weather!
* 1 Bottle of red wine (Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Rioja, Zinfandel, Shiraz)
* 1 Lemon cut into wedges
* 1 Orange cut into wedges
* 2 Tbsp sugar
* 1 Shot brandy
* 2 Cups ginger ale or club soda
That's just an idea - you could add any other fruit you have handy.
Enjoy your evening.
Oh, and you can also do this with the asti instead of the red wine (with peaches, yum).0
