V Box - Won't Come Off Standby...

Hello!

We had Virgin Media installed at the weekend. It all seemed to be up and running fine.

However, on the Sunday, my flatmate tried to turn it on but the V Box won't come off standby.

It doesn't have anything showing up in the LCD panel, and the standby button on both the remote control and the box don't seem to do anything. (Although it does have the "background" red light on.)

My flatmate rang the "help" line and was told to try pressing the on button repeatedly and fast...?! This didn't do anything!!

Anyway, I've come home from work today and tried to have a look at it to no avail...does anyone have any ideas?!

I've done the whole unplugging everything, leaving off for 5 mins etc.

They're going to send out an engineer on 10 April...this is 3 weeks after we originally had it installed - but to be fair to Virgin Media...they've offered us a £4 refund to cover this...:rotfl:

Any ideas from anyone as to what we could do before then would be fab!!

Cheers,

Jen

:rotfl: I only said it because the one I have in the bedroom goes off like this when I turn the light on (I don't know why - the electrics in my house are just fab you see  real top notch quality stuff ) and I have to unplug the v box to make it work again.

Hope you get it sorted soon ;)

i would unplug the HDMI/scart cable (whatever you use)
unplug it and leave it 10 minutes plus
remove the viewing card and give it a wipe
put it back in and power it
if it does nothing from that(i assume it is actually getting power?)
then i doubt theres much you can do

Does it not boot back after going through the reset sequence? If not then I would call them and they will try a reset if they can connect to it otherwise they will pop out and swap out the boxes.

Thanks for the advice...it doesn't boot back up at all!

I think the box must be broken...even though the red light comes on...too much for my technical ability!!

Will have to wait for the Virgin man to come back out...(and what a delight he was...:(...)
