Well that is not what I would recommend or expect, - you'd have to be fairly stupid to think that it was implying that they should be taken to Fife!
I would recommend that the council works on putting into action a plan to get these items recycled locally If neccesary by lobbying government to encourage small business in this field. And if it is not economically viable to recycle tetra paks then to lobby government for a green tax on packaging like this.
As you read the letter in that way I will change it a bit so that it is clear what is meant.0 -
Please name your council if they do accept tetra pak drinks cartons.0

No I wouldn't - I was merely taking the statement as you said it, with no idea of whether you understood the implications or not.Wig wrote:Well that is not what I would recommend or expect, - you'd have to be fairly stupid to think that it was implying that they should be taken to Fife!

I emailed my local council a couple of months ago about this, the reply was that they have no plans to introduce this form of recycling at present. No surprise really, last month at local tip the skips for glass & plastics were full all weekend, people were being told to put their glass & plastics into the skip that would go to landfill. I took mine home again! I emailed the council, they said that they had no idea that this was happening.

West Berks don't; they only recycle reasons why they don't recycle!0
-
Southend Borough Council have recently increased the type of recycling they'll take, and it now specifically includes "drinks cartons", which I take to mean tetrapak-style e.g. Ribena, Innocent etc. :T0
-
Cardiff now takes tetra pak; unfortunately they have stopped taking carrier bags and plastic film!0

Braintree do0

Mine doesn't (Harborough District in Leicestershire), but the next district (Melton Mowbray) do - so we save them up in the outhouse and go over every 6-8 weeks - nice drive, picnic on the way back, and 3-4 black bags of Tetra recycled, without too much environmental damage.
