pension reclaim?

Hi

i wonder if someone can help me please

i used the pension service to trace an old pension from an ex employer where both myself and the employer made contributions. Standard Life came back to me with details of the pension, but I THOUGHT the point of the tracing fees were to see if there were any benefits that I could claim back on? Maybe I misunderstood. they merely sent me a statement.

anyway, they gave me details but nothing about being able to claim back the contributions that I made before retirement age, ie NOW, I am 30 years old for reference!

Were my understandings correct, that i could get re-imbursed for any contributions I made, or do I have to wait until pensionable age, or transfer it?

Grateful for any advise.

Thanks
Karen

    You have misunderstood.

You cannot claim back anything as there is nothing to claim. You have found your pension and thats job done.

The clue is in the name "pension". Its not savings. Its for your retirement.

you understanding was wrong. You either wait to retirement or transfer it
