Bridesmaids dresses - ok to sell after?

Hi all

I am toying with the idea of selling the bridesmaids dress (qty 4) after the wedding.......

Do you think its cheeky to ask for them back, I am paying for them in the 1st place and I guess it would be the same if I were hiring them

what do you think? what are you doing?

hmmmm

if your paying for them i can't see any reason why you can't ask for them back, i was 1 of 3 bridesmaids that my sister had and while she let us keep the dresses i've never used it again so i wouldn't have minded if she said she wanted to sell them on.

it might be worth testing the water by asking your bridesmaids if they mind you selling the dresses on. if any of them really really want to keep the dresses then maybe you could get her to give you some money for it.

the only way you'll really know is asking before hand i suppose.

I'd check with them/their parents first...when I was a bridesmaid at the age of 12 I was made up with my first proper posh long frock and would have been gutted if it had been taken off me. My BM will be my stepdaughter-to-be and we've promised her the dress...we're wondering about being sneaky enough to buy it a few months ahead of our wedding so she can use it as her school prom dress too if she wants...though if she damages it I'll murder her!!!
Whatever you do it can't be cheekier than when my friend got married wearing a beautiful ballerina style cream satin dress....their best man's girlfriend was due to get married a few months later and had asked my mate to be BM...she saw my mates dress and while everyone else was telling her how gorgeous she looked, this girl just told my mate that after the wedding she could dye it blue and use it as the BM dress so she wouldnt have to go buying her one specially!!

Ask them - presumably you're close enough to them to ask them to be BMs in the first place so should be able to discuss it with them?

End of the day though it's your money, so you wouldn't be rude to ask for them back. Most just end up neglected in a cupboard.
