Claim money off someone

Hi

My friend's absive ex-partner owes me a lot of money. I have tried to get this back. All I have is copies of the payments made (bank slips) nothing else. Over a period of time I stupidly (kindly) loaned him some money whilst he was unemployed to fix a his house. He has no other income. In the past he always paid back. Now he wont.

He owes me just under £2500. I have receipts showing the withdrawals an expect dates of payment.
Can I petition for this persons bankrupty? Or take them to the small claims court?

Specific advice greatly appreciated

Hi there, I take it the person is not going BR and you would like to know if you could apply to make them or take them to a small claims court.

Firstly have you got a contract for the loan with them as either way proof would be needed to do either.

I would consult with a solicitor regarding the matter.

to petition someone for bankruptcy would end up costing you more than he owes you....not sure about the limit on small claims though
