Claim money off someone

Hi
My friend's absive ex-partner owes me a lot of money. I have tried to get this back. All I have is copies of the payments made (bank slips) nothing else. Over a period of time I stupidly (kindly) loaned him some money whilst he was unemployed to fix a his house. He has no other income. In the past he always paid back. Now he wont.
He owes me just under £2500. I have receipts showing the withdrawals an expect dates of payment.
Can I petition for this persons bankrupty? Or take them to the small claims court?
Specific advice greatly appreciated

Hi there, I take it the person is not going BR and you would like to know if you could apply to make them or take them to a small claims court.
Firstly have you got a contract for the loan with them as either way proof would be needed to do either.
I would consult with a solicitor regarding the matter.

to petition someone for bankruptcy would end up costing you more than he owes you....not sure about the limit on small claims thoughWe all die. The goal isn't to live forever, the goal is to create something that will0

I think phil is right to make someone bankrupt will be pricey!
Click below this may help with small claims and maybe give mediation a thought!!
