Got myself in a pickle! (hopefully sorted)

Hi all,

Well i started working on 1st may - had a nightmare with the job (couldnt give me 16hr so i got another job on 1st july. Now that job has gone tits up - childcare reasons, plus my state of mind isnt at its best lately.
And to top that off I've got carpal tunnel syndrome again but this time its blooming painful!

Anyways - i've got a few debts that i currently pay totalling £200pm  Thats not including gas elec etc.. Not to mention £300 rent arrears and £200 Council tax arrears, plus all the debts that r 'starting to catch up with me' :o
Now i wont be working and claiming benefits as a loan parent about £450pm.

I was getting really worried so i called the national debt advice line and the lady was lovely and really helpful.
She advised me i can get £2.80 pw taken from my IS for my rent, council tax and gas (£2.80 for each debt)
She also advised me if i have debts under £5k and ccj i can go to court and apply for an administration order which will mean i pay the courts £5pm and they distribute it between the debtors, also i can ask for a compensation order which means that after 3 years any outstanding debt is written off.

Has anyone had any experience of this?

Also, i dont know who i owe to - should i get a credit report so i can get the details of the lenders and sort it all out once and for all?

TIA xx

    Hi astonsmummy!

I'm afraid I don't know anything about the options open to you but I wanted to offer ((hugs)) and good luck with your situation! I hope you feel better soon, and maybe at some point you may feel able to look for another job? I think a credit report would be a good place to start with identifying your debts, but remember there are a few credit reference agencies, none of which hold all details about you  so you're best off getting all three (someone will give you the details!).

I hope someone's along soon (in the morning maybe) to offer you some specific advice :D

    Take care

That's completely understandable! There's no point doing things in a hurry and ending up in something unsuitable time and again. You need to be in a strong place in yourself before you can consider finding/choosing an appropriate job and the energy needed to settle into one. I personally don't think it sounds like excuses at all - you need to look after yourself now, rather than press on regardless and feel worse in the long run.

    Take care xxx
