Natwest card reader needed - wasn't expecting

I don't have a problem with this I don't think, but just thought it was a little odd...

I've set up payees on my natwest online banking before and needed the card reader to do so, and i've done the same thing again. Now it comes to making my first payment to the latest payee i've created, and it wants me to use the card reader AGAIN. I've never had to do that before!

Is this something new natwest are doing, or should i be suspicious at all?
Excuse any mis-spelt replies, there's probably a cat sat on the keyboard

Thank you, is that new then? I've set up payees only a couple of months ago and didn't have to do the card reader twice.

Yes, I had the same thing happen - I setup a payment to my other Natwest bank acct (not linked) & then had to use the card reader again when I actually made the payment a few days later.
Oh & why does it only accept my husbands debit card when it is a joint account? I thought it would accept either. Bit of a pain when I need to do something & he isn't here!!!

    hi bev 309.

im not certain but i think it has something to do with who set up the online banking facility.

with our joint natwest account i set it up and my hubbys card wont work with the reader.

you could set up an online access yourself with your own username and then you would be able to use your card,

If you have a joint account you should each have a seperate login.
If you use his login it will need his card. If you use yours it wll need yours.
