    Well I am glad I helped start this discussion, I have found it very interesting. I may not be amazed any more but I am still surprised.
    I think I am still on the side of the pension continuing after re-marriage. The fact that the pension is in payment means you can't really start building a new one. If you have paid extra for widow /er benefits then I think they should be paid regardless. And I don't think you cease to be a widow /er by co-habiting / re-marrying.
    I feel that this is not dis-similar to divorce where it is now considered that a partner will have contributed to the ability of the other partner to maintain or keep a job - so we have pensions splitting. A partner will also have helped the other partner in this case and should not be financially disadvantaged if they wish to share their life going forward.
    I am certainly glad to hear that the Police and Teacher's are at least covered from 2007 onwards.
