My sons pc has graound to a halt. OH who is fairly computer savy has tried allsorts but we need the disc that came with the pc to reboot properly. However I've managed to loose this.
As Tiny has gone bust I don't know where to get a replacement disk. Otherwise it looks like we have to replace the hard drive or pay for an expensive repair.
Any ideas.
thanks

I have one PM me your home address and I will send you a copy.
Make sure you have your key as this will not be provided.
I will dig it out of the shed.0 -

By ground to a halt I mean we can't even get past the start up, we get to the password screen to log on and the screen freezes.0

There are a number of troubleshooting tricks to try - first, will it start in Safe Mode - keep pressing F8 at the start of boot-up & choose this option. Second, if you can get a XP disk (any one will do) try using the recovery console & the command chkdsk /r - it can take sometime & may appear to loop 3 times but it can cure a number of apparent faults.0

I use F5 myself, however with Tiny O.E.M's the operating system and all the software that came with it is stored on a hidden partition *H.Tallymanjohn wrote:There are a number of troubleshooting tricks to try - first, will it start in Safe Mode - keep pressing F8 at the start of boot-up & choose this option. The disk I have which is the 'Tiny factory restore disk' which is a home edition from a PC a friend had, you set bios to boot from cd rom, boot to the disk and it asks you to enter yes 'YES' in you wish to turn PC back to factory restore.
Doesn't even need a key, it's already activated as when in the factory they have already activated the version before shipping.
Tiny were taken over by Time I believe.0 -
The trouble with the restore disk is that reverting to factory restore loses all of your data - there may be a 'non-destuctive' option to try first but, if not, try the chkdsk option - borrow any XP disk from a friend/neighbour - you lose nothing.
Time & Tiny were joined together under the 'Computer Shop' banner which went to the wall when it's owner, Granville Technology, was wound up - left no end of customers with worthless warranties. More recently, the 'Time' brand name has been restored as an on-line trader - still no cover for older systems though.0
