Early Discharge

On checking the Insolvency Register I noticed my case has been passed to the National Dividends Unit and that they were the point of contact now. So, being curious, I rang them to find out what this meant. Apparently my case is now completed and they're sharing out the proceeds, as it were, to my creditors. The gentleman I spoke to said there was a marker saying “suitable for early discharge” but that he couldn't see any details on the case to indicate why I had not heard from my local OR but that I should contact them to see what the situation is.
So I contacted them and they said they couldn’t see any details because NDU had the file and so they couldn’t do anything and I should contact NDU and get them to ring my OR if "they wanted to discuss ED". SO..I rang NDU back with my OR’s contact details and asked them to ring, which they said they would.
Now I know ED is a privilege and not a right etc. but it just might be the chink of light that gets me back into employment (I was in financial services previously) and I’d hate to think of my possible ED disappearing down an administrative black hole.
So my question is do I leave it a few days and chase them up and risk p***ing them off or do I leave it and risk losing the chance of ED because of “an administrative error”.
Anybody else had a similar experience or able to offer any advice?
Thanks

Hi super7
NDU will not process the ED, they simply do not do any other work other than the dividends (there are only a few people in their office) It is the OR's office that really keeps ownership of the case, but due to the computer system it can only be in one place at the same time and the dividends will take precedence so it is unlikely that you will get the ED until that job is done and the case handed back to the ORHi, im Debtinfo, i am an ex insolvency examiner and over the years have personally dealt with thousands of bankruptcy cases.

AN UPDATE
So I rang the OR and my case was returned to them a week or so later. Safe in the knowledge that things were progressing I left it in their capable hands and waited.
Come mid May knowing the case was back with the OR but I had still not heard anything I rang them again to find out what if anything was happening. "Have you not had the IPOQ forms to start the ED process yet?". Clearly not. "You should have had them a month ago". These were sent out to me on 27th May and returned on 29th May. I waited.
Mid July and I rang the OR on a different matter. To inform them that I was becoming self employed and enquire how the payments I would be receiving from the Department of Work & Pensions would be viewed by them and ask about declaring income as a tax return wouldn't be made until well after Automatic Discharge (end of Nov.). "Don't worry about it, your papers for ED have been sent off to the court and it'll all be sorted before you're up and running anyway":j
I waited. A month later and a check on the Insolvency Register reveals my case is back with NDU. Phonecalls to the OR and NDU put me right back to my original post. Neither of them know what's happening "'cos they don't deal with it" (NDU) or "can't see it on their system" (OR)
OR agrees to get the paper case back and see what's happening and call me to let me know BUT "even if the ED process is started now it would be too late, sorry"
Got a call today, apparently ED was "turned down in FEBRUARY!":wall:
OR can't say why at this point but "will look into it" and can't offer an explanation for the conversations I had with their offices in March, May or July or why I was sent IPOQ forms in May.
As I said previously, I know ED is not a right etc., etc. but from my original OR interview, when I was told mine was a suitable case (zero assets, no job), the repeatedly "dangled carrot" has influenced numerous life decisions over the past nine months. The whole process seems increasingly to be one of inefficient smoke and mirrors. Frustrated doesn't come close.0 -
sadly the receivers offices dangle this carrot to everyone when they dont know the outcome till they advise creditors etc...i've said its wrong for a long time
sounds like a creditor has objected to the ED? just a thoughtWe all die. The goal isn't to live forever, the goal is to create something that will0 -
It's the fact it was turned down in February but they sent me IPOQ forms three months later and were telling me it was going through two months after that.
I s'pose I'll have to console myself with obly having three months to go:(0 -
sadly it happens too often....a fair few here filled in IPOQ forms and still went 12mnths...We all die. The goal isn't to live forever, the goal is to create something that will0
