HannahO I always use neck of lamb in my slowcooker and the fat cooks off and the meat is soo tender.

Thanks Gintotmelinda. As it happens that they didn't have neck of lamb so I opted out for lamb shank anyway. The broth is too watery even though I added loads of pearl barley and split peas. Being a little bit creative, thinking of adding 2 tbsp of fine oats instead of corn starch. Scotch broth...oats.... marriage made in heaven? probably NOT authentic though hopefully it does the jobMoney is not the root of all evil.
It depends on how you obtain it and how you use it.
