Jobseekers Question

Hi
Was wondering if anyone can answer a quick question.
I'm currently on Contribution-based Jobseeker's Allowance which is due to run out next week. I haven't heard from anyone so I called them and asked about been moved onto Income-based Jobseeker's Allowance but they're saying I've got to put in a fresh claim.
Does this sound right? As they've already got all my details etc so just seems like a waste of time esp when my first claim seemed to take weeks to sort after them losing paperwork etc
Any help/advice/info would be appreciated.

I think it must be right as mine runs out in 3 weeks and they told me the same thing. You have to provide bank statements again as income based will be calculated based on any savings etc. and if you have a mortgage you need to fill in an MI12 form for help with interest payments.:smileyhea0

This is correct. Income-based as it is stated will assess what the total family income is, savings etc etc.
Completely different form.Motto: 'If you don't ask, you don't get!!'
Remember to say thank you to people who help you out!
Also, thank you to people who help me out.0 -
Thanks both. Just seems strange when every 2 weeks they ask the same question of "has anything changed" so everything I enter is going to be the same lol
Never mind, here's hoping I get my start date sometime soon, this whole not having a job thing is crap lol0 -

You need to fill out a JS3 form, get it filled in now and get the JCP staff to sign it off on the back, they should then send it off. Expect claim to take a while.0 -

Cheers, I'll have to get straight on it. Just seems strange as when I first applied they put me on IB and then changed it within 1 week to CB without me filling in any forms so why can't they do the same now lol0 -

When you first apply for CB JSA they appear to put you down for both, if your NI contributions are up to date you then claim up to 182 days for CB JSA.
My experience of JCP staff is they vary greatly in what they know or dont know0 -
Does anyone know the criteria for IB JSA if your partner is working full time do you automatically not qualify regardless of his wage, family or circumstances.0
