Help - Creditor List

Hi again all,

As I mentioned last time I posted, although undoubtedly stupid, I stopped paying all my creditors nearly 2 years ago as I simply didn't have the money. I have now decided to face reality and go bankrupt. My main problem right now is I don't know who I owe and/or how much.

Obviously I could sit and write a list with rough guestimates as to amounts owed, but I wouldn't be confident that it would be right.

Someone suggested obtaining my Experian report. I have done that and for some reason only 1 creditor is showing any issues.

Surely these companies must done something to my credit score? It's been nearly 2 years and some of the debts ran into thousands.

Any advice on the best way to go from here?

Many thanks in advance!

How long before you go BR?

You could just contact the creditors to ask for an up to date balance and/or who they have passed the accounts to.

I haven't actually initiated the BR yet - I'm working on the SOA. Ringing them certainly makes sense, so I'll get onto that this week. If I happen to miss any, will that matter? I think that's what I'm most concerned about - If I'm going to endure this, I really want it to be right and cover everything I owe past and present.

Also, what about dated debts were accrued? Can I be vague, or will the possible inaccuracies cause problems when the OR goes through everything?
  • Be as accurate as you can but guesstimates are OK, alot of people can't remember exactly when they accrued a debt.

Try to find out about as many debtors as possible but if you do miss any out that come to light further down the line, don't worry they will still be covered by your BR.

It's best to put as much info as you can on the forms but it's not the end of the world if you forget something. You can always explain to the OR that you are not entirely sure about some of them, you won't be the first.

As said, just do your best.

If the OR really needs more precise details they can always contact the lenders to get more account info.

I put the dates that I started each card or loan on my form, I got these dates from my credit report. I then put what I spent them on in the comments box on the online form (i.e. new fridge, help with bills etc). The OR seemed to be happy with this.

I did the same as Daybreak, ordered a copy of my credit report from the 3 credit agencies, and transferred the information from these to my SOA.
