Heya everyone.
I have quite large pores on my face and oily skin.
Here's a photo so you get an idea.:p

Please excuse the dodgy arm. I was holding the camera with it.:A
Anyway, the photo plays down my large pores somewhat lol but they are more visible in real life.
At the moment I use a Neutrogena Daily Foam wash, cleanse with a Superdrug own brand cleanser and moisturise with a Neutrogena moisturiser.
However, I'm really not sure what the skin care regime should be for my skin type. Could someone please help me out? What products do you think I could benefit from? And what properties should I look for when buying facial care products? I've heard that ones containing alcohol is a no go. Is that true?
Also, I don't know the first thing about foundation. I've never worn it so don't know what to buy to cover up my flaws. People say that I have quite fair skin but I'm not that sure. Should I use a primer as a base and what qualities should I look for in a foundation?
I'm sorry if this post is jumbled.:o
Thanks in advance.

They don't look large in the slightest but I appreciate that IRL it may be more noticeable. There are devotees to the Oil Cleansing Method on here who swear blind that their pores appear to have reduced since cleansing in that manner aswell as performing all sorts of other miracles on their skin to boot. I'm personally just waiting for my oils to arrive before I give it a whirl myself.
There is a thread devoted to it on here; I would post a link to it but I'm a complete luddite so can't! .
I'm rubbish at make up advice so can't help you there I'm afraid0 -

It is really very good. You will need castor oil and almost any other I am using 10% castor oil and 90% olive oil but only because I already had the olive oil in the cupboard and it works great - and so cheap.0 -
Firstly I have to say that your skin looks good in the photo! With regard to make up I would say you should try a tinted moisturiser (my favourite product), as you really don't want to feel like you are wearing a mask.
You have lovely eyes, why not try a plum/ brown eyeliner and matching mascara?
Make sure that the last product you use on your face has a SPF factor.
Although you may not feel like it having oily skin means that you will age better than those of us with dry skin, so there is an upside.
Finally try youtube and type in make up tutorial, loads on there, find someone with similar colouring to you and you should be fine.
I hope this helps, from a self confessed make up addict!"If you see someone without a smile, give them yours.":DMiss Mona, The Best Little *****house in Texas0 -
For a foundation that helps with pores I would try L'oreal Matt Morphose foundation. It helps hide imperfections and pores. Try a little on the back of your hand and you will see the difference when comparing both your hands together. The little tiny pores on the back of your hand disapear. You can get this for £7.99 atm in boots if you have a £2 cosmetics voucher. (Spend £5 or more in boots to get one) I would say you would need number 115 in it. ( I work in promotions and just finished a campaign for the foundation)
Primers basically are just a foundation for a foundation. If that makes sence! It will help keep your foundation on longer and also gives a smooth base for it. You can get various primers that also do differnt things. Ie if you have reddish cheeks there is one that will combat that. Or one if you usually have shiny skin it will give your face a more matt look. But going by your picture I wouldnt say you particularly would need one!0 -
MSE ways of dealing with pores would be as follows, I've done all of these and they help (some help a lot) but nothing will shrink them back, cleanliness is the key and quality of skin my tips are:
OCM, as in the other post
Asprin mask, crush a few non fizzy ones with a little water, apply over the open pore area and leave to dry, after a few goes the salyslic (sp) acid will have clears any grime and your skin will look fresher, trial and error with this one as to how often you do it average is twice a week.
Milk of magnesia, some use this as a mask and swear it tightens pores, didn't work for me but this is the best primer under foundation in the world, apply a very light layer with a cotton pad, it will make pores virtually invisible and stops any shine, completely. Not so good with dry skin, you don't look like you have dry skin anyway so this might be worth a shot.
Top foundation I have tried for flawless skin is Maybelline Mouse, I also use the satin liquid and the cream but regarding covering pores this one is top for me, a heavier coverage premium brand would be EL Doublewear but I think that might be a bit heavy for you, I am waiting for a sample of the Loreal one mentioned above so can't comment on that.:)
Moisturise every other day or night, with a good quality light cream, Nuxe and Kiehls are my fav brands atm, yes they are pricey but a little goes a long way and you would save on cheaper stuff that you only use a bit and then shove in the drawer, what is too high a price for good looking skin;)
I love that you put a pic up :Tyou can get really good accurate advice well done:DThank you for this site MartinThe time for change has comeGood luck for the future0
