Dear all,

Can someone clarify for me please if favouring a creditor is illegal and if a creditor asking a bankrupt for payment is illegal if they know you are bankrupt?

you cant favor a creditor thats a total nono,and once BR they need to go though your OR as the debts are no longer yours to deal with.

No you can not favour paying one creditor over another. The OR looks very badly upon this.

I suppose an exception can be for paying mortgage or rent:)

Thanks for that, what about someone knowing you are bankrupt asking you for repayment of monies? Is that legal?

well if they ask you for money when you are BR they wont be getting arrested for it but if after you tell them you are BR and give them your OR details they still inisst on harressing you then you could make a complaint to the police for harssment,but for the most part they are just wasting their time rather than doing something ilegal,if this is the case with you,stick to your guns and don't give them the time of day as the debt is no long your debt it has been passed on to the OR.,if getting phones calls just put it down on them and any letters just rip up and bin them if your OR is already aware of that debt.
