Moving in with boyf, but can't actually cook!!

Hello everyone on the OS Thread. :D

You all helped me out a couple of weeks ago when I asked for your help in making spag bol - well, I was hoping that some of wouldn't mind helping me again.

My boyfriend and I are having a test run of moving in together and I really hope it works. Anyway, I love cleaning and making the house nice with soft furnishings etc, but I am very poor in the kitchen, maybe through fear have never really tried etc and the nature of my job eat out a lot with clients.

I would like to cook for us both something fresh, cheap and healthy each evening - so he can unwind after his busy day. However, I want to put a stop to our diet of stodge - if we eat lots of carbs - we can barely move afterwards and are totally lethargic.

Next week - this is what I have planned so far.

MON (Surprise) - SPAG BOL -- recipe from here!!!

TUES Chicken Fajitas. Dinner Kit from Asda and diced chicken.

WED Strips of fresh chicken cooked in Peri Peri Sauce, served with warm pitta and salad.

And, that's it so far!!!! Please help and not too heavy on carbs, as I like a cuddle after dinner:D

Thank you Dee

No he can't, hence the post. He gets in at 9 after a 15 hour day, I get home at 6 after a 8 hour day.

Cheese and potato pie always goes down well in our house. Mashed potato with loads of grated cheese and I always fry an onion and mix it all together.

Very tasty and a small amount fills you up, especially with a couple of slices of bread and butter.

    Hmmmm I'm hungry now :rotfl:

How about a grilled chop? And some steamed veg??? Or you can cook it in the microwave very easily, do it for 5 mins to start and check to see if it's done enough, you will know how cooked you like it.

Or roasted veg, chop up what you like, peppers, onions, aubergine, caugette, etc.... Sprinkle a little salt, maybe a herb like thyme, and roast for half an hour (ish) again, you will know how well done you like it, you could maybe bake some White fish to go with???

I would def make a double portion of bolognaise, then use half for either chilli or lasagne.

Lasagne is a good one as you can layer it up the same day you make the bolognaise, then just pop it in the oven for 45 mins the day you need it.

If you don't mind using jars of sauce, chicken tonight are good and easy to do. you just fry the chicken, add sauce then simmer for 20 mins. We had a spanish chicken one tonight with rice, but you could easily serve it with pasta or potatoes.

    Hope this helps

Stir fries are quick, easy and fresh.

Diced chicken or thin strips of quick fry steak, onion, pepper, ginger, garlic, mushrooms, bean sprouts, any quick cook vege, shredded cabbage, whatever you like, serve with noodles which are quick and easy to cook. Or baked potatoes

I would recommend Jamies Ministry of Food as well.
