Buying stuff from Amazon.com

I've seen a bag I like which I can't buy in the UK, however, I have just discovered that Amazon.com will deliver here (never realised this before as I usually buy from Amazon.co.uk).
I realise I will have to pay import tax, however, Amazon.com add "import tax deposit" to the total before check out. Does this mean this amount is likely to be the total amount of import tax payable, or is it literally just a deposit as it's name would imply? I did a rough calculation of the import tax on another site and it comes up with more or less the same figure.

Says here it's an estimate (final bill could be more or less):
http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=596184&#import
But, the EU TAX and DUTY rates for USA imports don't change often, so it would be reasonable to assume Amazon figures are accurate and that there won't be any extra fees to pay.0 -

Can't believe it arrived today after only ordering it on 27th! No extra charges to pay either, I was expecting to pay a handling fee.
Unfortunately they've sent a large instead of a medium and it is way too big, so I have to send it back :mad:0 -
We received money back when the estimated import duty was more than the actual, so I have confidence that's it should be OK0
