choice catalog

Hi,hope somebody can help,i'm currently in dispute with choice catalog inregard to my monthly payments, have been told 3 times by customer services that my payments should be lower,,as i was still being charged for items that i've cleared the balance on,and they would sort this out, anyway keep getting statements with no change on them.just spoke to cs again who now say payments are correct, and that they don't see why i could have been told otherwise ! have asked for copies of all statements going back 18months but was told that they only can give me six months of statements,as this is all the info they keep.
Does anybody know if this is correct, or am i right in thinking that they should keep records for two years by law ?
Thanks

Not too sure on the letter of the law on this myself nottslass, but you could try making a Subject Access Request under the data protection act perhaps? This can be 6 years as far as the banks go, so would hopefully cover your 18 months.

You could also ask at the same time for copies of any 'manual interventions' on your account (any notes of previous conversations if they've made them would be handy from your side) And I think they have 40 days to comply or you can complain to the Data Protection agency (or whatever they're called)

I think companies have to be signed up to it to be bound by it, but I imagine someone like choice would be, but I think you can check at the official Data Protection organisation's web site?

  • Hi,
If you go and have a look at https://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk they have loads of people who really know about this sort of problem and lots of template letters you can use.
    Good luck!
