Am going to try and bake most treats/ pudding-y things - I usually bake a lot of them, anyway, but also have things like Freddos and caramel wafers in for ease for people to grab.

I want to do this more as well. Virtually all our main meals are cooked from scratch now, but our treats are mainly things like Twixes and Polar Bars (Sainsbury's version of Penguins) I do buy the Twixes when they are on offer, but some home made things would be a good idea, and I enjoy producing home made food.

Gosh, yes - it's amazing how much you can do under pressure! :D

Made custard cookies yesterday to finish off the custard powder - worked out at a batch and half sized recipe to use it all up :D Haven't made any other little sweet things this week, but did do a crumble at the beginning (changed the fruits (all from the freezer) to boozy pears, Bramleys (frozen in 2013!) and plums. Was bloomin' lovely and fitted the Autumnal weather we were having at the start of the week. Also made a rice pudding to try and use up some of my large stores of pudding rice - used about 1/3rd of a tub of extra thick double cream in it and the seed scrapings from inside half a dried out vanilla pod (about 9years old!) - that was gorgeous too :D:D (I limited myself to sampling these only, sadly)

Seemed to spend half my day in hair establishments yesterday - took 2 boys to the barbers and left home at 10.50am - got back at 12.45pm. DD then had an appointment for her hair at 1pm, so dashed straight off to that and got back at just gone 2pm. Did also get her hairdresser to trim my fringe just a teeny bit (Have an appointment early Sept) so I can now see again but am not looking startled! :D

Beee-you-tiful day here - which is fantastic, as it's my cousin's wedding today, so it's a big fam-a-lam day, which will be lovely:T :T Really looking forward to seeing everyone. Most of my family (my mum's side) still live in Gloucestershire, but we don't have the big family get togethers which we used to now that there's more of us etc, which is a shame.

Part of the family also had a funeral to attend yesterday :( - one of my other cousins' cousins on their dad's side (we're related on our mums side) committed suicide a couple of weeks ago. He was only in his early 30s and got married last November but suffered from depression for years. Very sad. He used to work up the road from here in the local supermarket when at uni and his mum still does, so I see her lots to chat to.

4 of my household are still asleep!!! The wedding is at 2 and we need to leave here at 1 at the latest, after having had some food, as I don't think we'll get any until at least 4pm. I still need to do my nails, too. And I'd like to get some washing on and hung out before we go. Think I'll just finish my cup of tea and start waking some people :D:D

I probably up the custard powder by another 10-15gm, but the original recipe as posted is above :) I also don't roll them any more - I just chill the mixture and then take off blobs, roll them into a ball and flatten them onto the baking tray x

Operation storecupboard still trundling along - although we have still been buying quite a bit of fresh stuff too....... However, as we're off to London on 22nd for a few days I need to ensure fresh supplies are used up, so will try and limit it to milk, bacon, butter and eggs this weekend! :D

AS level results out today - DD got 2 x A and 2 x B grades, so is pleased :D (although she would have liked 3 x A grades for the subjects she's continuing with):T:T Lots of her friends didn't get the results they were expecting :( She's having a sleepover here for lots of friends on Monday night - I think lots of chocolate, hot chocolate and pizza with DVDs will be the order of the evening! :D
